As a Counselor:
I work with adults of all ages who may be struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, fears, phobias, family of origin issues, grief and life transitions. I work with individual adults in all stages of relationship. While I am not a traditional “couple’s counselor,” I do work with couples preparing for a lifelong commitment, as in premarital counseling. My expertise extends to individuals questioning the wisdom, safety, strength and integrity of a current relationship, recovering from a previous relationship, or identifying their own needs, desires, priorities, and readiness for a future relationship. I have extensive training and experience working with people in various life transitions; marriage, divorce, parenthood, relocation, retirement, disability, life after diagnosis, life after loss…the list of life’s transitions is endless. Maybe life is leading you to transition your parental role as children enter adulthood, as you become an adult and need to redefine your own role in your relationship with parent(s), as you take on the role of “the ex” when a relationship splinters or the step-parent when a new family begins. Life transitions span the spectrum of life. Some are inherently sad, some are exciting, some are confusing, and some are downright terrifying. Having an experienced, trained counselor walking alongside you can be incredibly helpful as you navigate any and all life transitions.
Today’s professional counseling recognizes that we are all spiritual beings. Ethics and best practices encourage the incorporation of the client’s spirituality and the client’s belief system into the therapeutic process as the client wishes. Although my personal belief system is founded in the Christian faith, we will work together to ensure that your personal spiritual belief system is both honored and integrated into your therapeutic process.
