Teletherapy

The isolation of the recent pandemic was difficult, but mental health professionals learned a lot from it. Having experienced online (telehealth) counseling, I can readily assure you that we need not allow weather, road conditions or health concerns to prevent you from getting help when you need it!

I have to admit, I was among the many people surprised to discover the effectiveness and appreciate the convenience of online counseling. Much like with your medical provider, or team meetings at work, telehealth counseling alleviates many obstacles such as weather, road conditions, traffic, distance, lack of transportation, and your own demanding schedule, enabling you to fully commit and engage in your personal therapeutic process.

Because I offer online counseling through a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform, all you need is a computer, tablet, or even just a smartphone, a reasonably stable internet connection, maybe some headphones, and a little privacy. Shortly before your appointment, you’ll receive a link via email, text, or both as you prefer. You simply grab a quiet spot in your home, office, car, or wherever you can find some privacy. Grab your favorite pillow, your robe or a blanket, a cup of tea or a bottle of water and a snack on the way, get comfortable, click the link to access your secure video counseling session and instantly you and I are face-to-face.

Individual Therapy

Whether you’re in crisis, or just aware of a specific stumbling block, I offer individual counseling to help you discover, rediscover, or recover your inner strength and peace. We respectfully consider any pressing concerns that affect your ability to enjoy your life, to love yourself and your people, and to continue your personal growth. We consider things like grief and loss, life transitions, depression, anxiety, emotional/physical/sexual/spiritual trauma, shame, self-esteem, and relational matters.

It is imperative we consider the families and/or circumstances that influenced our developmental periods in childhood where we likely learned many things no one ever intended to teach us. Often, unhealthy, untrue, and sometimes even imperceptible messages learned in our developmental years can greatly diminish our capacity for confidence, trust and intimacy in adult relationships. Unresolved trauma in childhood often leaves that wounded child still making our decisions in adulthood. There is no shame in having learned those lessons and honed those skills. They helped us make it to today. However, as we move through life they often become a detriment to healthy adult confidence, communication, relationships, parenting and intimacy. As a counselor, I work to help you attain some objectivity, understanding and awareness, which are crucial tools required to protect today’s relationships from lessons learned in our past. Counseling can provide a safe space in which to strengthen your ability to heal.
